Fanning Springs is one of only three Florida towns with territory in more than one county. It straddles both Levy and Gilchrist Counties and is just a bridge ride away from Dixie County.

It's a unique, historic town, located on a high bluff of the Suwannee River, long a popular swimming and recreation spot and the location of the historic 1836 Fort Fanning. The Fort is now partially recreated in its original location across the highway from Fanning Springs State Park, now the owner of the famous springs, putting out 65 million gallons of water per day, one of only 33 first magnitude springs in Florida.

There are some great accomodations and good food located in and near Fanning Springs.
